Don't Mess With Mama's Coffee - Fab Finds
if you’re like ME, and your energy is 100% Arabica, I have some ah-mazing tips for you, mama.

I get up at 5 a.m. to the sound of my coffee pot bursting to life with a fiendish rumble. For 90 seconds straight (I’ve counted) it pulverizes the beans for my 12-cup pot and then it brews me liquid gold.

Ten minutes later, I’m standing in front of it with my mug, blurry eyed, in my PJs. I pour my first cup before the drip stops.

I’m addicted.

But I’m good with that. Because it gets me up.

The sound, the smell, the ritual.

This literal daily grind gets me up out of bed, because it all works together to remind me that there’s nothing more awesome and centering than starting my day alone, at my computer, listening to the Classical for Studying channel on Pandora as I tackle my most important project of the day.

The coffee — the brewing — gives me energy.

On the days that I sleep in, I’m a wreck. Prying my eyes open as my littlest lady belly flops onto my chest with her latest book obsession. Begging my husband to get me a now lukewarm coffee as I struggle to get the girls dressed and brush their tangled hair.

But when I listen to the coffee pot, when I’m reminded how precious those solitary morning moments are for me, I start my day energized and productive.

My energy is coffee-based. But I am fully aware that not every one of us will find this early morning energy shot as invigorating as I do.

As creative mompreneurs, we each pull our energy from personal sources, whether that be meditation, or working out, or eating a certain diet — or sleeping in. So I encourage you to recognize and embrace your own source of energy, and to allow it to do its magic every day.

But if you’re like ME, and your energy is 100% Arabica, I have some ah-mazing tips for you, mama:

#1: Get your coffee delivered.

Life. Changing. When my husband started a new job, his coworker gifted him a monthly coffee subscription — which is totally awesome. However, I’m not willing to shell out that cost on my own, so the next best thing? Amazon Prime.

#2: Invest in some good gear.

I take my coffee-making seriously. So I have a great coffee grinder/maker, and I keep my cup steamy all day every day with a trusty desk hotplate.

#3: Reward yourself with a good mug.

A while back on my business blog, I wrote a post about how to drink to your success by buying yourself a fun coffee mug every time you have a major or minor win — in business, or parenting. I totally love this idea. And here are some mugs on my wish list:
